Connect your Asterisk (BYO PBX)
Already run Asterisk for your telephony? Open Telephony → I have my own PBX (Asterisk). It builds an install bundle for your account: the dialplan that sends calls to your agent, a management (AMI) user with a fresh password, and a step-by-step guide.
Two ways to install:
- By hand — download the
.zip, put 2 files into/etc/asterisk/, add one#includeline toextensions.conf, send your carrier's incoming calls to[sipmind-inbound]and reload. About 10 minutes if your carrier trunk already works — setting up that trunk is the real work (the bundle has a sample). - One command —
curl -sL https://sipmind.net/install/asterisk?token=… | sudo bash. Installs Asterisk from your system's packages (Ubuntu/Debian), adds our configuration and tells the page it is done. About 3 minutes.
Where the audio goes. Your Asterisk sends the call audio to our server in Germany (sipmind.net:9092). This works from Europe, Russia and Central Asia alike — the same setup already runs in production. The only thing you configure is your carrier trunk; if you would rather not, order Done-for-you and we set it up. A server in your own region can be arranged for large call volumes.
Status on the page. After installing, keep the page open: it checks every few seconds and turns green within a minute of your first test call.
Your configuration is safe: before writing anything, the one-command installer copies your current files to /etc/asterisk/_sipmind_backup_TIMESTAMP/. To go back, copy them from there.
Calling from the browser. When your staff call customers straight from the dashboard, the audio bridge can live in one of two places:
- On our server (the default) — only Asterisk runs on your machine. Less to maintain, and no AI keys are stored on your server, which some data-residency rules require.
- Next to your Asterisk — slightly lower delay, but our container then runs on your server too.
For your staff both look the same — the same dial pad, the same recordings in the dashboard. We choose together during onboarding, by where your server is and what your rules require.
