Connecting WhatsApp step by step — and the pitfalls

The one-click connection on Integrations → WhatsApp opens Meta's own window. It takes about ten minutes when everything is ready, and most of the trouble people run into is about what Meta asks for, not about SIPmind — so here is the whole walk, with the places it trips.

Before you press the button.

  • A personal Facebook account with the real name of a person who speaks for the business. Meta may ask that person to confirm their identity; a shared or made-up account gets the whole portfolio blocked.
  • A website that names the business the way its documents do: legal name and address in the footer, and a privacy policy on its own page (not a PDF) with a line about messaging and how to opt out. Meta reads the site when it checks the business, and a mismatch is read as somebody pretending to be somebody else.
  • The number. Any country, mobile or landline, as long as it can receive an SMS or a call right now. It must not be in use in the WhatsApp app at that moment — see below.
  • A payment card for Meta, added later in Meta Business Suite → Billing & payments. Not needed to connect; needed before the free replies run out (what Meta charges).

What Meta's window asks, in order.

  1. Sign in with the Facebook account and allow the connection to SIPmind.
  2. Business portfolio — pick an existing one or create it: name, e-mail, website, address, exactly as on the site and in the documents. Down to the spelling: a portfolio that differs from the site is the usual reason for a later block.
  3. WhatsApp Business account — the display name customers will see above the chat (the real business name, not a slogan or a category), the category, the time zone, the site.
  4. The number — type it, choose SMS or a call, enter the code.
  5. Permissions → Finish. The window closes; SIPmind receives the number, sets up the token, the webhook and the routing by itself, and the number appears on the Integrations page. Send it a message from another phone — the AI should answer within seconds.

Where it trips.

  • The Meta window is blank or never opens. A pop-up blocker or a browser extension that rewrites pages (a translator, an ad blocker). Allow pop-ups for sipmind.net and try in a window without extensions.
  • The number is in the WhatsApp app. Meta will not register it until it leaves the app. The quick way: in the app, Settings → Account → Delete account (the app itself can stay); the number is yours, customers' chats on the phone are gone, and the AI answers from then on — a gap of ten or fifteen minutes. The way without a gap: connect a different number first and move customers over, or decide that this line now lives in SIPmind. There is no way to have the same number in the app and in SIPmind at once.
  • «This number is registered in another account» for a brand-new number that was never in WhatsApp. Create a WhatsApp account with it in the app, then delete the account in the app's settings, then connect.
  • «This account already has a WhatsApp number connected». SIPmind refuses to replace a working number by accident. A second number is added as another number, not over the first; how many numbers your plan allows is on Pricing.
  • The portfolio was blocked right after connecting. Almost always the site: it does not open, a social-network page was given as the site, the legal name or address differs, there is no privacy policy. Fix the site and the portfolio to match, then appeal in Meta Business Support Home (quality and bans).

After the connection. Replies to customers who write you work at once and cost nothing until the free thousand a month is used. Writing first — reminders, campaigns, a rule that messages a customer — needs an approved template and is limited to 250 different people a day until the business is verified (limits and verification). And one rule to keep: never put this number back into the WhatsApp app. Before verification it cancels the review; after it, the connection stops working.
